| Playwright, probably born in London, UK. After spending two years at Oxford and writing verse, he wrote satirical and romantic comedies for producer Philip Henslowe, collaborating with Dekker on plays such as The Honest Whore (1604). In 1620 he was appointed city chronologer, commissioned to write and produce the Lord Mayors' pageants. His stage masterpieces include Women Beware Women (c.1621) and The Changeling (1622, with William Rowley). |
