| Footballer, born in Mexico City, C Mexico. He made his debut in December 1993 for the América de México club, to which he has remained loyal for much of his career. His reliable performances gained him a place in the 1998 FIFA World Cup when the team reached the last 16 stage. After joining Real Valladolid in 2000, he unfortunately spent much time injured. However, he regained form during the 2002 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, and was named man-of-the-match in a decisive game against Honduras in which he scored two goals. The team's victory confirmed their passage to the finals in Korea/Japan, and he was feted as a hero by the national press. |
