| biography:
| Italian patriot, born in Savigliano, Piedmont, NW Italy. A liberal, he took part in the revolt to obtain a constitution that erupted in Piedmont in 1821. He was war minister of the temporary government and tried unsuccessfully to repel the Austrians. Afterwards he went first to Switzerland and then to France. He died in Greece while fighting alongside local patriots. |
