| The most memorable of several counts of Loon of the same name in the Middle Ages, who succeeded in 1279. He supported John I of Brabant in the War of Succession in Gelre and Limburg and took part in the Battle of Woeringen (1288). He backed Guy of Dampierre against Philip the Fair. His death led to the ‘War of the Loon succession’. |
