| biography:
| Wife of Charles Edward Stuart (‘Bonnie Prince Charlie’), the daughter of Prince Gustavus Adolphus of Stolberg. In 1772 she married the ageing Prince Charles in Florence. She left him in 1780 and the marriage was dissolved in 1784, whereupon she took up with the Italian playwright, Count Vittorio Alfieri. After his death in 1803 she lived with a French painter, François Fabre. |
