| Dutch shipbuilder, born in Nieuwe Tonge, N Netherlands. He founded his own firm in 1946, which later developed into Verolme Verenigde Scheepswerven, one of the largest Dutch industrial firms. He was forced to resign in 1970, and the company lost its independence in a rationalization in 1971. |
