| biography:
| Writer and journalist, born in Yorkshire, N England, UK. She was educated in Salisbury, became a reporter on a local paper (1957–9), and tried many other occupations before becoming a writer. She produced a regular column for the Sunday Times (1969–82) and The Mail on Sunday (1982–7), and has written a number of general interest works, including How To Stay Married (1969), Jolly Marsupial (1982), and Angels Rush In (1990). Her novels, always among the best sellers, include Bella (1976), Riders (1978), Polo (1991), Appassionata (1996) and Score! (1999). |
