| Theatre manager and playwright, born in London, UK, the son of George Colman (the Elder). He studied at Oxford and Aberdeen, followed his father as manager of the Haymarket, and became Examiner of Plays in 1824. He was the author of many popular comedies, such as The Heir at Law (1797) and John Bull (1803). |
