| biography:
| Artist, born in Richmond, Melbourne, Victoria, SE Australia. He studied at the Art School of the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, had his first major exhibition in 1957, and made his mark with exhibitions at the Whitechapel and Tate Galleries, London, in the early 1960s. His paintings divide into two genres: his love of native Australian wildlife, reflected in his ‘bush’ paintings, and his perceptive portraits of academics and politicians. |
