| biography:
| Jurist and poet, born in Pistoia, NC Italy. He founded the school of the commentators that interpreted Justinian's code in a rational, as opposed to formal, way to adapt them to the life of the Italian commune. Of note is his Lectura in Codicem on the first nine books of the code. A friend of Dante, he also wrote a collection of poems in the dolce stil novo style which influenced Petrarca. |
