| Composer and organist, an innovator of English cathedral music, probably born in London, UK. He studied at Cambridge, and became a doctor of music there and at Oxford. From c.1541–56 he was choirmaster at Ely Cathedral, and he may have been musical instructor to Edward VI. His surviving work includes two Latin Masses, 14 English anthems, instrumental music, and psalm settings. |
