| biography:
| Artist, born in London, UK. He studied at the Slade School of Art, London, and became a leader of the pre-1914 avant garde, joining Emilio Marinetti as co-signatory of the Futurist Manifesto, published in England in 1914. He volunteered for the Red Cross and was discharged in 1916, but returned the following year as an artist attached to the Bureau of Information. Many of his most famous works reflect his experiences at the front. After the war he moved away from Futurism to paint, in a poetic manner, New York, Paris, and the English landscape. |
