| French sailor, born in Granville, W France. He won the Solitaire du Figaro in 1986, the Boc Challenge (solo around the World ) in 1991 and 1995, and the Vendée Globe in 1997, breaking the record. He was also world record holder for 24-hours distance sailing in 1995 and 1996. |
