| Poet, born in Florence, Tuscany, NC Italy. He took part in the Battle of Montaperti (1260) and wrote 64 canzoni (poems), some of which have a political theme. He also left about 100 sonnets whose subjects range from the political to the religious. His treatment of love sets him apart from the imitators of Provençal poetry and makes him a forerunner of the dolce stil novo. |
