She achieved a great popular success with her The Heir of Redclyffe (1853), and in all she published some 120 volumes of fiction, High Church in tone, which helped to spread the Oxford Movement. She also published children's books, historical works, translated a great deal, and edited a magazine for girls, The Monthly Packet. |
