| Painter, born in Paris, France. He studied under Lebrun, and during a stay in Italy (1658–63) became influenced by the works of Titian and Veronese, going on to produce decorative historical and allegorical murals. His works include The Sacrifice of Iphigenia in the Salon de Diane at Versailles, and the Sunrise in the Salon d'Apollon. His greatest decorative work is the cupola of the Church of Les Invalides in Paris (1705). |
