| biography:
| Climatologist and geographer, born in Bay Co, Michigan, USA. He studied at the University of California, Berkeley (1930 PhD), taught at the University of Oklahoma (1927–34), and spent several years with the climate division of the US Soil Conservation Service. In 1946 he established the Laboratory of Climatology with Seabrook Farms, NJ, where he made important contributions to his field. |
