| Strip cartoonist, the creator of Peanuts, born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. Learning cartooning from a correspondence course, he worked as a freelancer for a religious magazine and the Saturday Evening Post (1947). He submitted a sample strip about children entitled Li'l Folks to many newspapers before United Features accepted it, retitling it Peanuts (1950). It became one of the world's most successful strips, and has been adapted for television and stage. Schulz based the Charlie Brown character on himself. |
