| biography:
| Bird artist, born in Langley, Cheshire, NWC England, UK. He won a scholarship to the Royal College of Art. He illustrated Henry Williamson's Tarka the Otter (1927) and Salar the Salmon (1935) with his own wood-engravings, provided innumerable illustrations for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, and published six books of his own, including Shorelands Summer Diary (1952), My Country Book (1945), and Bird Portraiture (1945). A collection of his work is now based at Oriel Môn, Llangefni, Anglesey, NW Wales. |
