| Chemist, born in Strasbourg, NE France. He studied at Leipzig and Giessen, and became professor at the universities of Montpellier (1844) and Strasbourg (1855). Between 1849 and 1855 he published his views of homologous and heterologous series and the theory of types with which his name is associated, and researched into anhydrous acids and oxides. |
