| biography:
| British biblical scholar, born in Hanchow, C China. He studied at Cambridge and was ordained into the Anglican Church in 1933. After several curacies and theological appointments he returned to Cambridge as lecturer, before becoming professor of divinity (1951–76). One of the most versatile scholars of his time, his many books include An Idiom Book of New Testament Greek (1953), The Holy Spirit (1978), and Essays in New Testament Interpretation (1982). |
