| biography:
| Naturalist and traveller, born in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He developed an early interest in ornithology, and travelled widely in the E USA and the Caribbean. He became curator of zoology at the Chicago Field Museum, and published his monumental Birds of the Americas (4 vols, 1918–19). Cory's shearwater was named in his honour. |
