| Italian politician, born in Casale Monferrato, Piedmont, N Italy. A Fascist deputy from 1921, he was one of the leaders of the March on Rome. He was governor of Somalia, ambassador to the Vatican, and education minister (1935–6). He voted against Mussolini at the Gran Consiglio meeting of 24 July 1943, and was sentenced to death in absentia at the Verona trial. |
