| Italian politician and writer, born in Milan, Lombardy, N Italy. He participated in the Five Days of Milan rising (1848) and was one of the Lombard government members. He then moved to Piedmont and played an active part in its political life, first in opposition, then on the government's side. He was twice education minister, and a senator from 1886. |
