| Artist, born in Dunvant, Swansea, SC Wales, UK. He studied at Swansea School of Art and the Royal College of Art, holding his first one-man show at Swansea (1930). Influenced by the Surrealists, he joined the London Group (1937), then taught at Chelsea School of Art (1945–55), the Slade School of Art (1956–61), and the Royal College (1961–2). He also designed opera sets, stained-glass windows, and vestments. |
