| Actress, born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. She studied at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney and began her career with the Sydney Theatre Company. Television roles followed which led to her feature film debut in Paradise Road (1997). Further successes include Oscar and Lucinda (1997), Elizabeth (1998, Golden Globe, BAFTA, Oscar nomination), An Ideal Husband (1999), The Talented Mr Ripley (1999), and The Lord of the Rings (2001). |
