| biography:
| Italian patriot and writer, born in Milan, Lombardy, N Italy. He took part in the Five Days of Milan insurrection in 1848, and propagated Risorgimento ideals with his articles. He founded and edited the periodical Il crepuscolo (1850–9), and became a deputy of the right (1860–80). Among his literary works are poems in Italian and Milanese dialect, and a historical novel. |
