| Poet, born in Genoa, Liguria, NW Italy. A leading member of the Arcadia poetry movement, he was responsible for making the heroic sonnet popular. His large output is collected in Opere poetiche (10 vols, 1779). Of note are the elegant love canzonets, such as Navigazione di Amore. |
