| Italian general of the carabinieri, born in Saluzzo, Piedmont, NW Italy. He was put in charge of the fight against terrorism in 1978 and in 1982 was appointed prefect of Palermo. He was ambushed and murdered by the Mafia together with his wife and his escort that same year. |
