| biography:
| Poet and writer of popular songs, born in Stockholm, Sweden. His most important collections of songs are the Fredmans epistlar (1790, Epistles of Fredman), with their overtones of biblical parody and burlesque, and the Fredmans sånger (1791, Songs of Fredman). The songs combine broad humour and rococo charm, and are still popular throughout Scandinavia. |
