| Physician, born in Sulz-on-Neckar, SW Germany. Professor of medicine at Leipzig, he was the first to introduce temperature charts into hospitals, contending that fever is a symptom and not a disease. His clinical thermometer was a foot long, and took 20 minutes to register the temperature. |
