| Papal legate, born in Rome, Italy. He was the commissioner sent by Innocent III to King John of England after his excommunication to receive his submission (1213). He returned to England as legate (1218–21), was made Bishop of Norwich (1218), and exercised great authority during the minority of Henry III (1216–1227). |
