| Illustrator, born in Kharkov, E Ukraine, the son of Mikhail Artzybashev. He studied in St Petersburg, Russia (1907–18), emigrated to New York City (1919), and worked as an engraver, illustrator, and set designer. Known for his illustrations of books for adults and children, such as Seven Simeons (1937), he also created surrealistic covers for Time, Life, and Fortune magazines. |
