| biography:
| Poet and grammarian, born in Milan, Lombardy, N Italy. He taught grammar in Milan, and left a vast body of work both in Latin and in the Milanese vernacular. His Latin work includes a eulogy to Milan, De magnalibus urbis Mediolani (1288), and De vita scholastica, a poem on scholastic duties. Notable work in the vernacular is the Libro delle tre scritture (1270–4) a poem in three parts which in its vision of the afterlife foreshadows Dante. |
