| Notorious robbery partners: Clyde Barrow (1909–34), born in Telico, Texas, USA, and Bonnie Parker (1911–34), born in Rowena, Texas. Despite the popular romantic image of the duo, they and their gang were also responsible for a number of murders. The pair met in 1932. When Barrow first visited Parker's house, he was arrested on seven accounts of burglary and car theft, convicted, and sentenced to two years in jail. Parker smuggled a gun to him and he escaped. With their gang, which included Barrow's brother and wife, they continued to rob and murder until they were betrayed by a friend and shot dead at a police road-block in Louisiana. |
