| Economist and writer, born in Barcelona, NE Spain. He became a banker in Madrid, and was appointed director of the Mint and of the Spanish Treasury (1847). He was the author of Oda a la Patria (1832, Ode to the Fatherland), a poem which had a tremendous influence on contemporary Catalan writers. |
