| biography:
| Basketball player, born in New York City, USA. He played professionally with the Boston Celtics (1950–63), then went on to coach with the Cincinatti Royals and the Kansas City–Omaha Kings. In 1955, he founded the NBA Players Association. He became a sports commentator, and was elected to basketball's Hall of Fame in 1971. He has been the author of several books on the sport, including Basketball In My Life (1956) and The Killer Instinct (1976). |
