| Tennis player, born in Södertälje, SE Sweden. He left school at 14 to concentrate on tennis, and at 15 was selected for the Swedish Davis Cup team. He was Wimbledon Junior Champion at 16. In 1976 he won the first of his record five consecutive Wimbledon singles titles (1976–80). He also won the Italian championship twice and the French Open six times between 1974 and 1981. His Wimbledon reign ended in 1981 when he lost in the final to John McEnroe. He retired in 1983, having written his autobiography, My Life and Games (1980). |
