| Grand-duchess of Tuscany, born in Venice, Veneto, NE Italy. A Venetian aristocrat, in 1574 she became the lover of Francesco de' Medici, grand-duke of Tuscany, and married him in 1579 against the will of cardinal Ferdinando de' Medici and the Florentine court. She died in mysterious circumstances within hours of her husband's death. |
