| biography:
| Aviator, born in Bundaberg, Queensland, NE Australia. He served in the Royal Naval Air Service in World War 1. In 1928 he created a new England–Australia record, arriving in Darwin, Northern Territory, 16 days after leaving England. In 1931 he flew from the USA to England by way of Jamaica, Brazil, and West Africa, creating another three records on the journey. He crashed and was killed in the Alps while on a solo flight from England to Australia in 1933. |
