| Journalist, born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA. As Washington reporter and bureau chief for the New York Herald Tribune during the 1940s and early 1950s, he scored many scoops and was awarded a Pulitzer Prize (1947) for articles on government loyalty investigations. He also helped uncover evidence that led to the perjury conviction of Alger Hiss. |
