| Benedictine monk of Cluny in Burgundy, EC France, said to have been born of English parents in Morval. He is the author of the Latin poem, De contemptu mundi, in 3000 long hexameters, some of which were translated by John Mason Neale into hymns, among them ‘Jerusalem the Golden’ and ‘The World is Very Evil’. |
