| Physiologist, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was professor at Buenos Aires until dismissed by President Juan Perón in 1943, and thereafter founded the Institute of Biology and Experimental Medicine, in 1944. He investigated the role of pituitary hormones, and shared the 1947 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine. |
