| Poet, born in either Sainte-Maure near Poitiers, or Sainte-More near Tours, France. His vast romance Le Roman de Troie (The Romance of Troy) was a source book to many later writers, notably Boccaccio, who in turn inspired Chaucer and Shakespeare to use Benoît's episode of Troilus and Cressida. |
