| biography:
| Poet, born in Birmingham, C England, UK. He spent much of his childhood in Jamaica. A popular performance poet, he has toured throughout the UK, Europe, and the Caribbean. His first book, Pen Rhythms (1981), was followed by The Dread Affair (1985), a passionate condemnation of aggression. He has produced two stage plays, Playing the Tune (1985) and Job Rocking (1987). In 1988–9 he was writer-in-residence for the City of Liverpool and African Arts Collective. He has also worked with several Jamaican reggae bands, including the Wailers. He has recorded his poetry in the albums Big Boys Don't Make Girls Cry, Free South Africa, and Us and Dem. |
