| Journalist and writer, born in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. A founder of the New Hampshire Sunday News, he subsequently joined the Washington Post and worked for Newsweek. His book Conversations with Kennedy appeared in 1975. In 1965 he became managing editor of the Washington Post, and encouraged the investigative journalism which reached its high point in the Watergate scandal. |
