| Biochemist, born in Stockholm, Sweden. He studied medicine and chemistry at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, and taught chemistry at Lund (1948–58) before becoming professor at the Institute (1958–81). He isolated and purified prostaglandins, for which he shared the 1982 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine. |
