| Scholar, born in Florence, Tuscany, NC Italy. While in Cosimo de' Medici's service, he wrote a history of the city, Istorie fiorentine (1527–30). Other works include Sonetti (1555–7), which show the influence of both Petrarca and Dante, and the dialogue L'Ercolano. in which he maintains the Florentine character of the Italian language. |
