| biography:
| Composer, born in Venice, NE Italy. He was a judge of the Venetian Republic and a member of the Council of Forty, and afterwards held offices at Pola and Brescia. As a composer he is noted for his Estro poetico armonico (1724–7), an eight-volume collection of settings for 50 of the Psalms of David, his oratorio Le quattro stagioni (1731, The Four Seasons), and his keyboard and instrumental sonatas. He wrote the satirical Il teatro alla moda (1720). |
