| biography:
| Psychoanalyst and writer, born in Eger, Hungary. She studied at the University of Budapest (1916 MD) and taught paediatrics in Poszony. Her marriage to Tibor Benedek (1919) took her to Leipzig, Germany, where she became a psychoanalyst and developed a lifelong interest in the psychology of women. She went to the USA (1936) and joined the Chicago Institute of Psychoanalysis (to 1970), and published five important books, including Psychosexual Functions in Women (1952). |
